At this sesssion you will hear from past and present officials of how and why they chose to run, what to do when and how to file to be a candidate, what positions will be on the Ballot in 2008, and how to learn the personal coping skills to be an effective, decisive leader without letting the personal attacks 'get' to you! It is our responsibility, as citizens, to know how government works, hold our elected officials accountable and become part of the solution by running for office.
We need to ensure our leaders are actively protecting the basic civil liberties we fought so hard to obtain.
In this session you will hear from eminent speakers such as Rich Robinson of the Michigan Campaign Finance Network on why we have rules of conduct, laws which govern honesty, ethics behavior for elected officials, codes which are supposed to preserve public access and keep the public’s business out in the sunshine.

In 2006, barely a handful of seats were contested in Manistee County.
If this concerns you as much as it does us, then please plan to attend these training programs to prepare good people to run for office, serve on boards or commissions. PodCast will be posted here soon.
